Local Authority Home Loan (LAHL) Application

Please review the eligibility criteria & guidelines before registering and completing the online application form.

To be eligible for a Local Authority Home Loan, applicant(s) must:

  1. Be First Time Buyers and neither applicant can have previously purchased or be a current owner of a residential property. With the exception of applicants qualifying under the Fresh Start Principle and those who have inherited residential property. An LPT check will be completed at application stage.
  2. Be aged between 18 and 70 years.
  3. Be earning under €70,000 (gross) in the previous tax year as a single applicant. As joint applicants i.e. two or more, must have a combined income(s) of under €85,000 (gross) in the previous tax year.
  4. Be in continuous employment (this can be self-employed) for at least two years in the case of the primary earner and in continuous employment for one year in the case of a secondary applicant (if second applicant is employed). With the exemption of those applying who qualify under the Temporary Amendments in Light of Economic Impacts of COVID-19
  5. Provide consent for your PPSN to be used for a CCR New Application Enquiry (NAE) and an LPT property check, at application stage.
  6. Currently have a legal right to reside and work in the State and be able to demonstrate that you are habitually resident in Ireland.
  7. Be able to provide proof of insufficient mortgage offer from two regulated financial providers.
  8. Have a minimum deposit of 10% of the market value or purchase price of the property, whichever is the lesser. (This excludes applicants applying
    under the Tenant Purchase Scheme.
  9. Provide 12 months evidence of rent payments if in rental accommodation.

Guidelines for completion of the form:

  1. Applications must be submitted in full with all supporting documents uploaded correctly. Applications that are not submitted in full will be queried and will not be sent to the Underwriters for consideration until all queries have been satisfied.
  2. If submitting a joint application, duplicate documents are not required (e.g. listing common dependants, proof of address naming both applicants etc)
  3. List & provide evidence of all banking accounts. Applications will be queried where bank account documentation is not provided.
  4. When uploading bank accounts, all accounts must be uploaded in date order.
  5. The blue icons that are located within the form will assist you in completing the application. Please refer to them and read carefully for further information.
  6. All documents that require translation should be translated to English.
  7. Each section must be completed.
  8. If you cannot complete the form in a single sitting then just click Save for Later and return to the form by logging in at a later date
  9. On completion click Submit but please be aware that once submitted you will not be able to change any of the data unless it is queried by the administrator
